Ostriphant Gryphon Paperweight

Basically one of my critters that I uploaded earlier...in clay. (Link to the orriginal drawing: [link] ) The asignment was to make something from a description given by students from another class. The one I chose was basically to combine an elephant with an ostrich. The drawing was the concept art for this, but I decided to do it in my critter style and use the drawing as a critter as well.

I WANTED to do this as a completely 3-d statue, but I realized that the oddness of it would have made that nearly impossible for my limited clay skills. thus, i decided to just make a paperweight out of the drawing. the inner details were done by poking the stencil I made and used to make the orriginal shape along the lines with the pen clay tool. Thus, the detail lines are actually a series of dots.

It wasn't what I had intended when begining the project, but I actually think it came out quite nicely. The only problem is that some of the edges are a little sharp, though I smoothed as many as I could.

The paperweight is about half an inch thick.
